Thank you to everyone who joined our June Momentum Call! As we settle into the natural rhythm of mid-year reflection, we explored the often frustrating but essential space between incubation and illumination. Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is step back and trust the process, allowing ideas to without forcing the eureka moment.

From shipping creative projects to overcoming the fear of visibility, our conversation centered on navigating the tension between honoring our natural creative cycles and the pressure to constantly produce. We discussed how the seasonal slowdown of June creates ideal conditions for the kind of deep thinking and reflection (incubation) that leads to breakthrough insights (illumination).

Some of the key themes we explored this month:

  • Creative Incubation Without Pressure: Understanding the four stages of creativity and why forcing the β€œeureka” moment often backfires, plus how different environments can support your natural incubation process.

  • Shipping Vulnerable Creative Work: Moving past the tendency to get projects 99% done but never launched, and distinguishing between genuine creative incubation versus avoidance patterns.

  • Overcoming Fear of Success: Recognizing how fear of changing your social status quo can be just as limiting as fear of failure, especially for women and people of color navigating professional visibility.

  • Personal Visibility and Professional Impact: Balancing the discomfort of self-promotion with the importance of highlighting valuable creative work and modeling for your team.

  • Visioning Before Planning: Why personal clarity about your role and must come before tactical resource allocation across multiple priorities or businesses.

  • Above-the-Neck vs. Whole-Self Care: Recognizing when you're over-intellectualizing solutions and need to address basic physical needs like nutrition and rest first.

Where do you do your best creative thinking? And what would it look like to actually resource those conditions instead of forcing creativity where it doesn't flow?
