The mass rollout of Android 15 is now underway and as usual Google’s own Pixel phones are first in line for the big update. You’ll need a Pixel 6 series or newer phone to get the update and Google shared an official blog post detailing the headline features with its latest Android release.

Here is the list of supported devices:

Private space allows you to lock sensitive apps behind an extra layer of authentication. When enabled, apps in Private space will be separated from the rest in your apps and will not be visible in the app drawer, recent apps, notifications and settings.

Android 15 is also getting optimizations for tablets and foldable phones with the ability to pin your taskbar so you can have fast access to your most used apps and app pairs. You can also easily unpin the taskbar using the same toggle.

Theft Detection Lock is another new security feature which is also coming to most devices running Android 10 and up. This feature will automatically lock your phone and prevent your personal information from leaking if your device is stolen. It works by leveraging your device’s sensors and AI to detect motions associated with theft like sudden swipe and run.

Remote Lock is an accompanying feature that allows you to lock your phone from another device via your phone number even if Find My Devices is switched off.

In addition to the Android 15 rollout, Google also announced its October Pixel feature drop. It includes hands-free Google Gemini on Pixel Buds Pro, Pro 2 and Pixel Buds A-series earbuds.

Pixel 8 and newer phones are getting improved Night Sight and Astrophotography modes and underwater photography and video recording modes. Audio Magic Eraser will help isolate sounds during video recordings, the Pixel Weather app is getting a pollen tracker and the thermometer app on Pixel 8 Pro supports the camera viewfinder
