CarPlay Ultra: These brands have said ‘no’ to Apple’s new

After years of anticipation, CarPlay Ultra officially launched earlier this month. Many automakers have committed to working with to support CarPlay Ultra in their vehicles. But what about those who haven't? Here's a list of major brands that are choosing not to support CarPlay Ultra.

No planned CarPlay Ultra support from these brands

Aston Martin is the first automaker to launch CarPlay Ultra in its vehicles. But Apple has assembled a strong list of partners who will adopt the new in due .

You can find the full list of committed brands here.

Unfortunately, the list of brands skipping CarPlay Ultra is a little bit longer at this point.

Here are the automakers with no pledged support:

  • BMW
  • Buick
  • BYD
  • Chevrolet
  • Chrysler
  • Dodge
  • Fiat
  • GMC
  • Jeep
  • Lexus
  • Mazda
  • Mercedes-Benz (previously committed but backed out)
  • RAM
  • Rivian
  • Subaru
  • Suzuki
  • Toyota
  • Volkswagen

If your favorite automaker is on the list above, it's very possible they'll never support CarPlay Ultra. So while those who have made commitments might take a while to ship support, at least one day CarPlay Ultra is coming.

Many brands listed above do support standard CarPlay. The vast majority, in fact. There are the standard exceptions like Tesla and Rivian, but that's new.

It seems that Apple's vision for controlling more of the vehicle's instruments via CarPlay Ultra is something that plenty of those same automakers aren't interested in.

As more automakers ship CarPlay Ultra support in the future, and the platform evolves, it will be interesting to see if that changes at all.

Will CarPlay Ultra sway a future purchase decision for you? Let us know in the comments.
